Brussels - Brugge (Part 1)

I finally found some time to write about Brugge! Been unwell and been spending a lot of time on the bed, doing nothing. Anyhoo, here goes. Will need to split it into 2 separate posts though cos it's just too photo heavy.

A little info about Brugge (Bruges), other than it being a stunningly beautiful city, it is also a UNESCO heritage site and is known as the Venice of the north. Some also call it the Lovers' Town. It is about 45 min out of Brussels by train.

So off we go to Brugge! Got up early, and headed straight for the train station, breakfastless.

And here we are! Weather was just nice that day. About 12 degrees if I remember correctly, with lots and lots of sunlight. :)

The train station. All of us were getting so excited at this point and didn't even realise that we were walking out the wrong way. -_-"
This was the wrong exit. We nicely walked out, thinking it was right, and kept walking straight, looking for landmarks and not finding them, but still kept walking, for about 15 mins. Then we began to feel that something is not right. We not only didn't see any of the landmarks that we were looking for, but it looked like we were in some housing area, so un-tourist. We tried asking a few people walking by the pavement but they happened to be tourists as well. Great. In the end we decided to patah balik and head back to the train station and see where went wrong.

Then we found this exit. Sesat. This looks more like it. :)

Now that we found our way, we can start snapping away :)

We couldn't decide which park we wanted to go to cos apparently Brugge has many many parks... So we stopped by a huge map (this place is very very tourist friendly with maps at almost every main intersection) and found a park that we got excited about and started making our way there.

A little observation I made. Brugge-ians like to park head-in. Check out all the bums of the cars. I noticed that Singaporeans usually park butt-in and Malaysians are a mix match, but oh well, not an important observation. Scary to know what intrigues me huh.

The journey to the park was just so picturesque. These shots were taken just by the main road. Lucky people.

And we're drawing closer to our destination. :)

 Winged creatures chilling

And that road behind us leads us to Minnewaterpark :)

Another thing that intrigued me, well, us. The Algae river. We spent a good 5 mins just standing there wondering if it was hard ground or was it just green goo floating on the river.
We had a video of Jon throwing a stone in to test it out but I couldn't find it! But anyhoo, it is a river with green stuff floating on it. Gross right???

After we crossed over that bridge you saw earlier, the view that welcomed us literally took our breathes away! I was like in dreamland or Cinderella Land of sorts! The grass was so green that we just wanted to roll around on it and take a nap there. Autumn was also drawing near so there were also brown leaves scattered all over the green grass, and there was a garden with lots of colourful flowers and nicely trimmed trees surrounded us! Boy was it a sight to behold. So we of course took the opportunity to snap snap snap!

This was the walkway that will lead us to the main part of the park/town/attraction and it was already beautiful enough that if I had to turn back and leave Brugge at that point, I was happy enough. The next post will be of the main attraction where we spent the whole day at. See ya then. :)
