Back in Belgium
Overdue post. :-/
So after Brugge, we went back to Belgium. What we planned for the next day was to hunt for a chocolate factory! How can we not visit a chocolate factory when in Belgium right? That was our main aim and of course to look for the pissing boy ie: Manekin Pis and walk about the Grand Place.
We were quite ambitious to also fit in the Atomium and The Basilica of The Sacred Heart into our schedule, which was waaaay out of the way, far from the main part of town but we planned out our time properly and were sure we had enough time to do everything as arranged.
So the next morning, we were so kuai, got up early and wanted to start the day early to find Brussels not ready for us yet. -_-" I've mentioned in my earlier post that the only thing I didn't like about Belgium was that life starts late and ends early. How do you expect a KL-ite to get used to that? Our life practically starts at 7am (Or earlier for some) and ends at say 12am? (I know, later for some...)
We just walked around blindly looking for breakfast and the restaurants weren't opened yet... Our tummies were sorta grumbling... So we just decided to walk towards the main part of town and hopefully by the time we get there, at least 1 restaurant will be opened?
To our surprise, life was happening at the main square (Grand Place)! We were so happy to see crowds there with loud festival music and FOOD MARKET! I could almost hear our tummies cheering!
The morning started out a lil cloudy but the sun came out to play not very long after. :)
Isn't the architecture simply gorgeous?
The muka-baru-bangun peeps. Deciding what to have for breakfast cos we were spoilt for choice
Ok abrupt ending. I would love to continue on with the rest of the Belgium trip where we visit the chocolate factory but somehow Blogger.com doesn't allow me to upload any more pics for now.
In my next post, other than the chocolate factory, we also visited the atomium and the Basilica. So excited to show you the gorgeous views from above the atomium! :)

How Belgium lace is made, with a creepy old lady at the background
So this was where the festival music is coming from. It's like as if Brussels knew I was coming and got the place all Mexico-ed up! I love Mexican music and their colourful culture. :)

Fresh mussels pried open right before us.

This guys was playing jukebox-y kinda music the whole time. Kinda makes the mood a lil more cheery and fun!
Say with me, WAFFLES! You are not in Belgium if you don't see waffles. They had such awesome flavours like apple crumble, cinnamon caramel, apricot, and the list goes on
And here comes my favourite part. Fresh escargots and oysters!!!
I'm just patiently waiting for him to pry open the oysters that I ordered and it will be devoured in a blink of an eye. ;)
Look! Can't get any fresher than this!
I'm gonna be honest, just looking at this pic makes me salivate. Not kidding.
And as mentioned, in a blink of an eye, gone. It was only 10Euros fyi. Extremely worth it in my opinion.
While I lick my oyster shells clean, Kai was enjoying her waffles while the guys enjoyed their meat meal. Beef Spinach sausage?
Costumed people walking around preparing for their performance. It was so sunny yet windy, everything was perfect. :)
After having our breakkie, we moved on to hunt for a chocolate factory and Manekin Pis.
Check this out! Oh dear I'm really getting hungry...
There was a parade going on but we didn't know what was it all about. We just saw this guy walking in front with a whole troop behind him. Just keep the image of this guy in your head.
Ice cream stop.
The colours/flavours kinda look the same but I tell you, the taste is oh so good!
This guy is sheepishly smiling cos he heard me telling Kai that he is soooo cute. The handsomest ice cream scooper ever. Teehee. What a waste I didn't get a proper shot of him. Ok I sound creepy.
I couldn't bare eating ice cream in that cold so I was the photographer.
Haha, you know how in tourist spots, there are buskers that dress up as statues so you pay them to have a pic taken with them? What do you think this is? A real guy or a real statue? We spent a good 5 mins going around this guy wondering if he was real, more like Jon was wondering if he was real. He didn't move at all. So Jon threw in some coins to see if he says thank you but no, no movements whatsoever. Jon was thinking why this guy so rude? And proceeds to poke his legs. Only to find out he was just metal. :-/
